Litter AN Update: 14.5 Week Weighing
Litter AN is 14.5 weeks old now. There is 1 buck, 1AN, remaining in this litter. Our kits typically go to new homes around six weeks of age. Occasionally, we like to hold kits back to grow out to demonstrate just how well our rabbits grow out after their typical departure at 6 weeks of age. At 6 weeks of age, kits are still small (between 2 to 3 pounds), so it’s hard to see their true quality. So, what can you expect of a high quality New Zealand white breeding stock rabbit once you have it for several weeks? Well, here is a glimpse.
1AN was produced by the breeding of our largest buck, Yeti, and our largest doe, Velvet, on February 1st. He is nearing 3.5 months of age. From past experience purchasing from other local breeders, we know that most New Zealand whites for sale at this age typically weigh around 6 pounds. This experience was reaffirmed on our recent trip to an Alabama commercial rabbitry. In contrast, 1AN weighs in today at a whopping 8.31 pounds. That’s a 33% difference and an excellent example of the high quality breeding stock we offer for sale. 1AN is a magnificent specimen and will be going to his new home in Cartersville next weekend.
